I Guess Debating the Issues is Too Much to Ask
This caught my eye on Digg:
Obama Building War Machine to Respond to 'Swift Boat' Attacks
The article quotes David Axelrod, Obama's Chief Strategist as saying, "He's not going to sit there and sing 'Kumbaya' as the missiles are raining in". Ugh.
Not that McCain is the agent of all this (potential) crap, but honestly, this kind of muckraking turns the campaign into a "who sucks the least fest". When we started this process last year, I thought to myself, "Wow. Look at that panel of candidates. I might be *actually* get to vote FOR someone, instead of AGAINST someone."
This kind of nonsense, red herring media blitzing only distracts from meaningful discusssion on real issues, and leads voters back down that road of voting against someone.
I just wish the average voter held the viewpoint, "Well, I voted for Person B because I loved their view on Issue A." Maybe I'm just dreaming and need to wake up and smell the reality.

Well, as we so easily forget history in this country, we are now likely doomed to repeat it. Lehman Brothers is bankrupt, and by this time Wednesday, AIG probably will be as well. And how did this whole subprime mess come to be in the first place?
